Rapidly Determine Impact to Mitochondrial Function with MitoScan's in-vitro Toxicity Bioassay
The MitoScan bioassay is based on isolated vesicles of the inner membrane of mitochondria, submitochondrial particles (SMP).	*The prepared, frozen SMP are stable and capable of conducting electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation in-vitro.*

1) Predict whole-organism or cellular toxicity:	Use in conjunction with or in lieu of conventional bioassays requiring culturing and maintenance of organisms or cells.

2) Screen for general cellular toxicants:	SMP are sensitive to compounds that disrupt: - Protein-membrane interactions - Protein-protein interactions - Protein & membrane integrity

3) Screen for potential mitochondrial toxins:	Use MitoScan in mechanistic studies to identify potential electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation inhibitors.
