MitoScan Express

Rapidly Determine Impact to Mitochondrial Function
with MitoScan's in-vitro Toxicity Bioassay

The MitoScan bioassay is based on isolated vesicles of the inner membrane of mitochondria, submitochondrial particles (SMP). The prepared, frozen SMP are stable and capable of conducting electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation in-vitro.

1)  Predict whole-organism or cellular toxicity:

Use in conjunction with or in lieu of conventional bioassays requiring culturing and maintenance of organisms or cells.

2)  Screen for general cellular toxicants: SMP are sensitive to compounds that disrupt:
- Protein-membrane interactions
- Protein-protein interactions
- Protein & membrane integrity

3)  Screen for potential mitochondrial toxins: Use MitoScan in mechanistic studies to identify potential electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation inhibitors.

Clicking on text in the image below takes you to more information on that topic. You can also use the links at bottom of the page for more details. Thanks for using MitoScan Express.
